Max Disaster Recovery was founded by Buffalo native John Petrik to provide fast, technically sound disaster response for homes and businesses throughout WNY.

John holds both a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master’s degree in Engineering with a focus on heat transfer and fluid flow from the University at Buffalo. This background provides a strong understanding of the science behind moisture movement, airflow, and temperature behavior inside buildings—principles that are fundamental to effective structural drying and environmental remediation.

Over the course of his career, John has worked in engineering, technical project leadership, and property renovation, gaining extensive experience with how buildings are constructed, repaired, and restored. That combination of engineering training and real-world property experience shapes the way Max Disaster Recovery approaches restoration work: with careful assessment, proven methods, and a focus on solving the underlying problem rather than simply addressing visible damage.

Our team uses professional-grade drying and remediation equipment and follows recognized industry standards to address water damage, mold, and related environmental hazards in residential and commercial buildings.

The company is named after Max, John’s dog, who passed over the rainbow bridge several years ago but remains the inspiration behind the brand. Max represents the qualities the company strives to bring to every job: reliability, loyalty, and showing up when help is needed most.
